Bringing color and appearance together across your business

From color challenges to brand confidence.

A strong visual identity takes more than choosing the right color. It takes a shared understanding of how color and appearance should be developed, approved, and reproduced across materials, suppliers, and manufacturing locations.

That becomes especially important when components need to look like one package: a jar and its lid, or a bottle, pump, and overcap may be made from different materials by different suppliers, but customers see them together.

Shade Strategies helps brands and manufacturers build that shared understanding. We bring design, purchasing, quality, and production teams to the same table to work through color challenges early, keep decisions moving, and carry the approved color from the first sample through full production.

About the Founder

Founder Amie Pernitzke brings more than 20 years of experience in color development, plastics manufacturing, and working with consumer brands. She has partnered with creative teams to turn color trends into product opportunities and worked with manufacturing teams to make those ideas achievable in production.

That experience gives Shade Strategies a clear view of both the brand vision and the work required to deliver it.

The cost of color misalignment

When expectations are unclear or approvals vary between teams, rematches, delays, scrap, and visual inconsistencies can follow. Each issue costs time and money through additional samples, freight, wasted material, interrupted production, and delayed launches.

Because those costs are spread across departments, the full impact often goes unmeasured. We help organizations see the whole picture and find opportunities to improve it.

Our approach

Our assessments and workshops reveal how color and appearance requirements move from specification to production, where communication or approvals break down, and what to improve first.

For organizations ready to go further, our proprietary color management system helps leaders see how those challenges connect across teams, suppliers, and products—and build color continuity as the business grows.

The result is a clearer path from creative intent to finished product: more confident approvals, better supplier alignment, less avoidable rework, and products that reflect the brand wherever they are made.
